Qpopper 4.0.3 for MPE/iX

Qpopper is a POP3 server for Unix developed by Qualcomm, the makers of the well-known Eudora and Eudora Light eMail clients. With POP clients like Eudora, Pegasus, or Netscape (to name just a few free ones), you can access your inbox on a mail server (e.g. running sendmail) from a client PC or workstation for viewing and/or retrieving messages (e.g. for reading offline) instead of using a command line tool like /bin/mailx from the Posix Shell or the Mutt mail client from a terminal session, for example.

To build Qpopper on MPE/iX, I have used the GNU gcc compiler package as well as a few selected (object) files from the Posix Porting Wrappers on Jazz. The files that have been compiled with HP C/iX (c89) for convenience (calling MPE intrinsics is a little easier in HP C/iX than in GNU gcc) are supplied as .o files, in case you don't have c89 on your system.

I have used several pieces of source code that I already wrote when porting the Samba 2.0.x freeware package to MPE/iX a while ago. You won't need to also download or install Samba 2.0.x/iX, though. I just mention this, in case you'd be curious to also try porting something... reusing exsiting code can be quite useful to reduce time and effort; one benefit of Open Source development.

To build Qpopper on MPE/iX, you need the following files:

To just use precompiled binaries, you can use the following:

You might want to also download a copy of the Qpopper manual (available in PDF format on the Eudora web site as well as within the source code distribution) to have the documentation for its various configuration options.

Have fun with Qpopper for MPE/iX, but keep in mind: use at your own risk
